How to Move a WordPress Site to Hostinger Without Losing Email

Prepare the source site

Take a fresh backup of files and database, record the WordPress version and active plugins, and keep the old hosting account active. Submit the migration request with the source site available. Hostinger advises migrating before pointing the domain so you can check the copy first.

Check the copy before DNS changes

Open several post URLs, forms, image-heavy pages, login and checkout if present. Compare the new site with the old one. Check redirects and permalinks. If a feature relies on a server path or scheduled task, verify it on the destination rather than assuming it moved.

Move DNS and email deliberately

Find where the authoritative DNS zone lives. Preserve MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records or migrate email separately before changing nameservers. After switching the domain, test mail in both directions and keep the old service until message delivery and website pages work.

Know the limitation

Hostinger says its managed migration does not support WordPress Multisite. The exact process also varies by source platform. Use the official migration instructions as the current authority, and plan a rollback window for a business-critical site.

A practical handover sheet

Before the move, make a four-column sheet: service, current provider, new provider, and verification step. Include the domain registrar, DNS, web hosting, transactional email and mailbox service. Ask an owner to sign off after each line passes. This catches the common case where the site works but enquiries disappear into a missing mailbox.
